Accessibility
Accessibility information for our digital services (BFSG / EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.1 AA).
English translation for convenience. The German text at /barrierefreiheit is the primary version for Germany.
1. General description of the service
KWICKEY is a digital lost-and-found service: customers purchase and activate a KWICKEY code (for example as a sticker or tag), store contact and return details, and can be notified if an item is lost. Finders scan the code and — depending on the owner’s settings — can get in touch or submit a found report. The online shop and related web surfaces (account, contact card, report lost, social) are provided at www.kwickey.com.
2. How the service works
Use is via a common web browser on desktop or mobile:
- Order and pay for a product in the online shop (payment via Stripe Checkout).
- Create an account or sign in (email/password or Google sign-in).
- Activate the KWICKEY code and configure the contact card and found options.
- When a third party scans the code: complete return via the contact or report pages shown.
Prices, contract formation and further terms follow our Terms and the shop page information. Privacy: Privacy policy. Provider details: Imprint.
3. How accessibility requirements are met
We design the website and web app to meet the applicable requirements of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act ordinance (BFSGV) — in particular EN 301 549, which references WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
This includes, among other things:
- Semantic HTML with landmarks (
<main>, navigation) and meaningful headings - Keyboard operation including focus trapping and focus restore in dialogs and the mobile menu
- Visible keyboard focus and a skip link to the main content
- Forms with labels, error announcements via live regions, and
aria-invalid/aria-describedby - Optional accessibility mode in the theme dialog (footer or navigation): larger display, higher contrast, reduced motion — meets WCAG 2.1 AA in light and dark themes
- Support for the system "reduce motion" preference (
prefers-reduced-motion) and light/dark themes
We verify conformance internally with automated tests (axe-core) across public pages in light/dark themes and with accessibility mode on/off, plus manual keyboard checks. Formal certification by an external audit body is not currently available.
4. Known limitations
- In default mode (accessibility mode off) we keep the brand colour unchanged; some combinations (e.g. mint buttons and links) do not reach a 4.5:1 contrast ratio in all cases. Remedy: turn on accessibility mode in the theme dialog (change appearance → “Accessibility” toggle).
- Third-party services (Stripe Checkout, Google sign-in) and email templates are controlled by their providers; we have limited influence over their presentation.
- Some 3D/visualisations (for example decorative Spline embeds) are decorative and hidden from assistive technologies; content is available in text or via alternatives.
If you encounter barriers, please tell us — we aim to resolve issues promptly.
